Sony patent could see games interrupted by compulsory ads

  • Though the patent exists it is impossible to say how widely this mode of advertising is likely to be applied.
  • The patent's abstract describes the the suspension of "interactive content" in order to display an advertisement, after which interaction resumes.
  • The development hints that, in future, in-game advertising may adopt a model much closer to commercial television.

  •  The filing suggests that gamers could be warned of an impending advertisement by a warning message, or by slowing down gameplay.
  •  During online games, the patent has clauses for the display of the same advertisement to all users simultaneously, and different adverts for one or more players.

Internet greets Facebook's IPO price with glee, skepticism

  •   Friends may be priceless. But 'friending' is worth $38 a share.
  • That's what Facebook set as the initial price when its stock begins trading on Wall Street Friday morning. That's at the top end of the range analysts were expecting and gives the company a valuation of roughly $104 billion.
  • "A $104 billion market capitalization puts Facebook at more than 100 times its trailing earnings," wrote John Constine and Kim-Mai Cutler for technology blog TechCrunch. "That's a big multiple to live up to, and it will likely need to add bold new revenue streams to justify the mammoth valuation."

Own an iPod? Then you're suing Apple

  • If you're one of the millions who purchased an iPod between September 12, 2006, and March 31, 2009, you might be in for a surprising email from RealNetworks.
  • Back in 2004, the company created the music service Harmony, a digital rights management (DRM) translation service. It allowed users to play songs downloaded from the RealPlayer music store on Apple's iPod.
  •  Apple created an iPod firmware update not too long after the announcement of Harmony, which blocked it and other music services from uploading songs to the iPod.

Verizon reps push 4G Android over iPhone

  •  Verizon Wireless Sale Representatives are openly telling people are thinking of buy an Iphone to buy a rival of that product
  • David Goldman wanted to see if this was true, he went into online chats and regular chats with Verizon Wireless sales reps. from what he could gather, basically you are going in for an Iphone, out with a Android
  •  As of right now Iphones for Verizon are only for 3G, they have not been able to find out how to make it compatible
  • This is why most of them are against it
  • Personally I prefer An Android over an Iphone, because I truly do not like APPLE

‘Assassin’s Creed 3’ Release Date Could Be Delayed Due To Lawsuit, Ubisoft ‘Directly Copied’ Author?

  • Author John Beiswenger has just filed a lawsuit against video game publisher Ubisoft claiming that the company's "Assassin's Creed" franchise directly copied ideas from his own story.
  • Beiswenger's "Link" is a novel centering on a team of scientists who discover a cell particle with infinite capacity for memory. The researchers are taken back in time as their test subject recalls ancestral memories in hopes of learning about the existence of the human soul.
  • If Beiswenger succeeds, this could mean fans won't be seeing a third "Assassin's Creed" game, or at least not anytime soon.
  •  both works also include spiritual and religious tones, assassinations and characters experiencing historical events through their distant past relatives.
  • ALL QUOTED FROM and CREDIT SHOULD GO TO: HERE!
  • The author is seeking $1.05 million against Ubisoft in damages and up to $5.25 million if the judge rules that the company knowingly infringed on the copyright. This would also halt the release of "Assassin's Creed 3" and any other related products.

'Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City' a disappointing chapter

  • For 15 years Resident Evil was always a name of importance
  • Though this newest edition is no addition on any history
  • In this game and time, you play as a member of the Wolfpack Squad for Umbrella Corporation. You're tasked with retrieving a virus that turns people into the undead creatures before the U.S. military can find it.
  • Though what has plagued the best zombie franchise in the business from back in the day, is one small little thing. IT'S NOT ABOUT ZOMBIES ANYMORE.
  • These games are more about Umbrella and this is what causes it to turn into a bad version of Call of Duty
  • This goes the same as the movies and it's just not right
  • If i wanted to play C.O.D. I'd play C.O.D. not RE
  • Though one cool feature is: Either your friends can fill in the roles of the other three squad members or the game will control the others like Dead Island
  • Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City" is currently available in North America, Australia and Europe. It will be available in Japan on April 26. It is available for Windows PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It is rated 'M for Mature' due to blood and gore, intense violence, and strong language. This review was done playing the Xbox 360 version.

Ex-Google employee says Google+ has ruined the company

  • James Whittaker, an ex-engineer for Google left, because of this and his quoting is that  "My last three months working for Google was a whirlwind of desperation, The Google I was passionate about was a technology company that empowered its employees to innovate. The Google I left was an advertising company with a single corporate-mandated focus."
  • James was the head engineer for Google's Google Plus
  • Whittaker joined Google in 2009 and only left a month ago.
  • Before Google + enginners had all the resources and time they needed and this caused massive epicness like Google Docs and Chrome
  • Though now with a new CEO the idea for Google was about being social
  • Microsoft is competing with Google for Search engines but has gotten no where close
  • I have seen that Google is not taking the market from Facebook for Social Networking, and also Microsoft is not taking away the market of Google for a search engine

First gorilla genome map offers clues to human evolution

  •  The first complete gorilla genome has been mapped by scientists giving fresh insights into our own origins.
  • We have decoded the Gorilla D.N.A. , which are the last of the genus of living great apes
  • "The gorilla genome is important because it sheds light on the time when our ancestors diverged from our closest evolutionary cousins around six to 10 million years ago," says Aylwyn Scally, postdoctoral fellow at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, Cambridge and lead author of the report.
  • A team of researchers examined more than 11,000 genes in humans, chimpanzees and gorillas, looking for evolutionary clues.
  • It is shown that Gorilla D.N.A. is 15% closer to our D.N.A. then a chimpanzee
  • Having the entire length of the gorilla genome now means scientists can start to compare all the four great apes at every position on the genome, Scally says.
  • It could have been some climatic change that separated humans in the east of Africa from chimpanzees in the forest -- that's an idea some have floated. If we can see some imprint of it in the genome that would very, very useful information.
  • Epic JURASSIC PARK MOVIE!

Five ways Windows 8 is better than iOS and Android

  • When introduced it showed that would be great for touch screen use
  • These are some ways it's better
  1. Picture password: It face recognition and it works by you selecting a picture and you have to make three of the same facial structures
  2. Easy gesture-based app switching: using the "Recent App" app, you can swipe from the left edge of the device will immediately pull up the last app you used.
  3. Fat fingers are no longer a issue: Windows 8 has a split screen keyboard
  4. Chromeless, full screen app experiences: There are no menu bars, task bars, or navigational buttons permanently pinned to the display.
  5. Home screen style and utility:  In Windows 8, app icons are live tiles, either square or rectangular in shape, but always consistent in their basic look and feel.

No iPhone leads 700,000 customers to flee T-Moblie

  • T-mobile is the only cell phone carrier that does not have the iPhone, and that hurts
  • Because of this it was the only national carrier to lose customers last quarter.
  • All along 2011 T-mobile was shredding contracts, though towards the end it slowed
  • Once Sprint came out with the iPhone and the iPhone 4s came out T-Mobile had no chance
  • T-Mobile wants to get the iPhone chipset does not support that band.
  • T-Mobile has 25 million subscribers and Verizon has 87 million
  • I think this might be one of the reasons they brought that cute girl in the commercials, to get people's attention

Amazon earnings OK, but stock slides 10%

  • Last quarter for Amazon was not a terrible on, but also not a great one.
  • It earned up to $177 million, this equals to 38 cents per share for the holiday quarter

  • This caused a 9% lowering of trading this Tuesday
  • For this quarter, the company expects to gross between $12-$13.4 billion dollar
  • What 's bringing in most of this revenue is The Kindle Fire
  • Amazon hopes that with it's low price it will bring in more buyers

At $400 billion, Apple is worth more than Greece

  • On Thursday Apple's price on the stock market amount was at high at over $400 billion dollars
  • This was a high even for this high value company.
  • By midday though it returned to under that, but for that brief moment As stated by Cnn.com " Apple's market cap is higher than the gross domestic product of Greece, Austria, Argentina, or South Africa. "
  • Some people believe this rise was that everyone is expecting a iPad 3 which was thought from by the decline in iPad 2 prices.
  • Well in this case I might want to put some money into the stock market there.

First look at Nintendo's Wii U

  • Nintendo is coming out with a new gaming device that has a touch screen controller
  • This changes how games are changing
  • The demo took place at this week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas
  • The difference lies in the special in the controller which gives people new things to think about.
  • The Controller lets people see what other people would see on the Linked up TV
  • As said by Cnn.com "For example: In the "Chase Mii" demo game that CNNMoney tried, two to four players with regular controllers try to catch the player with the touchscreen. The regular players simply see their avatars running around on the TV, while the Wii God sees an overhead map on the touchscreen, which shows where everyone else is running."
  •  This works with single player, though their was only one demo game they showed
  • Though they didn't REALLY show how the game worked, they just moved the map
  • No date or amount are showed yet

Organization. . . NO I DON'T

I have never been an organized person. The uses for my computer are very easy to get to. There is really only two things on the computer. The first is school work. For this all I need is to type in Gmail and I am working on my homework. If I am not using Gmail, then I am just using Google to look for research. When I am doing my homework I listen to music. For this I had put Youtube and Pandora on my tab bar. This makes it for easy access. I use Youtube to look up songs that I want to look up after hearing somewhere, or for specific songs I want to listen to. I use Pandora for all music, when I feel lazy.
For storing photos I just put them in my laptops documents, under photos, under random names. For storing Documents, I use Google Docs all the time so I don't have to worry about it. I do not use anything else in this case of storing items. I do not have hierachical system because I have everything equally used.
Tagging is you attach a label to something. Social bookmarking is a method for Internet users to organize, store, manage and search for bookmarks of resources online. These two are important because tagging helps you and or a friend remember or find something in a website. Social bookmarking is what happens when you put the bookmark so that you can get to them on another computer.
